RS Recovery at Recovery Tow Show 2025

RS Recovery at the Recovery Tow Show 2025

The Recovery Tow Show 2025 was one for the books!

This year, we were privileged to attend as guests of both ESSEL and Falkom, who showcased two of our trucks on their stands. Naturally, it was a proud moment to see them shining under the lights (we may be a little biased, but still, they did look fantastic!).

DAF ESSEL T-Rex – Built for Power and Precision

First up, the DAF fitted with an ESSEL T-Rex body. ESSEL’s T-Rex body delivers strength, sleek design and smooth operation. When paired with the DAF chassis, it forms a seriously capable combination. We’ve spent a lot of time getting every detail just right and seeing it take pride of place on the ESSEL stand was a real highlight.

Scania V8 with Falkom FAW 25000 – Heavyweight Performance

In addition, there was one of our sister Scania V8 trucks, fitted with the Falkom FAW 25000 body. Crafted by Rydam Universal, the FAW 25000 body is a powerhouse for heavy recovery work – especially when paired with the V8! We’re incredibly proud of the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into this build.

A Great Weekend for the Industry

Beyond the trucks, the Recovery Tow Show is always a great chance to catch up with friends, suppliers and fellow recovery professionals. This year in particular the atmosphere this year was brilliant – full of innovation, great conversations and a shared passion for keeping the industry moving forward.

We left feeling inspired but mostly proud to see our work standing tall among some of the best in the business.

A massive thank you to ESSEL and Falkom for showcasing our trucks and to everyone who stopped by for a chat. Roll on the next one!

Driven to do more: Ben’s Story

-“RS have supported me in gaining my Class 1 license which is a huge step forward in my career.”

Ben started his career as a working on heavy plant equipment before moving on to a maintenance role for a large fleet operator where he found his passion for HGV work. He delved into the world of roadside breakdown gaining experience with lifting deck trailers, tail lifts and more before joining us at RS.

What’s the most common job you’re called out for?

“Diagnostics because I’ve trained on various systems such as Haldex, Wabco, Jaltest. Having access to the best kit means we can get the job done efficiently and keep up with industry standards”.

Favourite job to attend?
“Since joining RS, I’ve had more opportunities to take part in major incident work as a roadside tech, including rollovers, something I’d never done before. They have became one of my favourite jobs to go to!”

What’s the most valuable skill you’ve learned on the job?
“Communication. It plays a big part, anything from communicating with the office to calling parts suppliers and customers.”

What keeps you motivated?
“I’d say the chance to do more beyond my main role. I’ve trained new starters, earned my Class 1 license, and learned recovery skills — the opportunities here just keep growing.”

✅ We actively invest in our team, providing hands-on training and the latest technology so they can thrive in their roles.

RS Takes the South

You may have got used to seeing RS Recovery service vans in and around Basingstoke and surrounding, we have now acquired a new depot in the South, near Southampton.

The opportunity was presented to us after our long-time industry friends announced that they were hanging up their keys after 40 years in the recovery industry. R.D. Avery were leading providers of breakdown, accident and vehicle recovery services across Hampshire, Wiltshire and beyond and we are priveledged to be trusted to build upon their solid foundations. Our new depot is home to 11 service vans and 6 recovery trucks – some new, some relocated from the Midlands.

Our service van technicians have vast industry experience, some with over 20 years in the industry, some Master Technicians from main dealers but all of them willing to do whatever it takes to get your vehicles moving.

As you may know, we are approved service agents for Haldex, Wabco, Gray & Adams, Tiger Trailers, TIP, Schmitz-Cargobull and more. All of our technicians have and continue to receive comprehensive training on these trailers, guaranteeing that you receive optimal service in the most efficient and budget-friendly manner.

Each service van is presented to our technicians fully stocked with parts and equipment that are then tailored to each service van dependent upon their customer base and work load. They also carry welders, generators and gas bottles; 90% of our 5 tonne service vans have a winch, ensuring that we stick to our promise of minimal downtime for our customers.

As for the trucks, you may recognise RS70 RSR – one of our more versatile trucks, originally based at our Tipton Head Office. With a FAS8000+6 system, which features a bed weight capacity of 8000kg and an under-lift capacity of 6000kg, it is capable of recovering anything from a car to a HGV.

Versatility added to the fleet

daf recovery falkom

RS Recovery have taken delivery of a new DAF CF designed and manufactured by Falkom B.V. in the Netherlands. The vehicle returned to the U.K where it underwent final touches by their UK distributor, Rydam Universal. We opted for FAS8000+6 system, which features a bed weight capacity of 8000kg with an under-lift capacity of 6000kg, meaning it will be capable of recovering anything from a car to a HGV. The truck will add versatility to fleet and will cope with the ever changing demands of the daily operation.

Added safety

The truck has several features that improve its efficiency and safety when in use:

  • Innovative extendable beacon bar to warn motorists from the rear and improved lighting around the vehicle
  • Compliant for Low Emission Zones/Clean Air ones
  • Extra storage on the nearside of the vehicle, reducing the need to obtain equipment on the offside
  • Passenger capacity upgraded to 5 people with customised seating to replace the bunk bed
  • VDZ recovery system for HGV’s, which eliminates the need to work under the casualty vehicle when being loaded
  • 5 point camera system giving 360 degree viewing coverage around the vehicle
